Hersheypark is home to an impressive collection of 14 mild to wild coasters, so it's easy to see why this month is one of our favorites as we celebrate National Roller Coaster Day on August 16. Whether you prefer a classic wooden coaster like Comet or are brave enough to climb 210 feet into the air before flying downhill at 76 mph on Candymonium, there is a coaster waiting for you at Hersheypark. There has been a roller coaster at Hersheypark since 1923 with the original Wildcat, which operated until 1945. Hersheypark then added Comet, the oldest coaster at the park, which turned 75 last year. 30 years later sooperdooperLooper arrived which is another one of our iconic roller coasters that just turned 45 this year.
